This method introduces to those living with a disability the benefits of yoga by introducing mind-body concepts and practical exercises to deepen the connection between mind and body.
Individuals living with mobility disabilities, such as partial or total paralysis, amputation, severe spinal cord injury, severe arthritis, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, head injury, spina bifida and cerebral palsy. We strongly encourage a family member or caregiver attend class with you, if possible.
Classes will be conducted either in a chair, on the floor or some combination of both. Assistants will help with transfers to the floor as needed. Classes will include basic movements (yoga poses), a focus on inner awareness when doing those poses and breathing. You may be asked to remove your shoes — assistants will help you as needed. You may receive gentle physical adjustments from the teacher and assistants. These adjustments are intended to enhance your experience. You will learn to use props such as blankets, blocks and belts.
Wear comfortable clothing, leggings and t-shirt. Individual or group sessions available. Contact Crystal to schedule.
